The designs center around a theme of linear motifs as seen in patterns Elevation, Latitude and Longitude. Patterns Hexagon and Polygon provide an array of small-scale geometric complements. The clever use of juxtaposed weaves and shading effects creates the appearance of enhanced dimension and complexity in the fabric constructions. Colors incorporate a broad range of warm earth, metal and gem tones. The Hemisphere Collection offers great affordable solutions for upholstery application in all commercial markets.

Mayer Fabrics is pleased to introduce the Stitch Collection with designs by Jeremy Noonan in collaboration with The Common Thread For The Cure Foundation, Valdese Weavers and Crypton. The collaboration celebrates the restorative qualities and resiliency of the human spirit. The collection was inspired by textile traditions of repairing and renewal. Examples of stitching, patching, and layering are mending techniques that can be found throughout the history of textiles. The patterns are characterized by the use of linear elements (connections), texture (touch), and textile heritage (history). The Stitch Collection features C-Zero Plus Moisture Barrier, Crypton’s non-fluorinated performance option. Proceeds from the collection will be donated to The Common Thread For The Cure Foundation. The Stitch Collection fabrics are perfect for healthcare, hospitality, corporate and educational interiors.

Mayer Fabrics and the Environment
Mayer Fabrics makes an ongoing commitment to sustainability which has and will always remain a core consideration throughout the entire development process of our textiles. Beginning in 2001, we developed collections under our EcoSystem® brand which include all textiles made from 100% recycled content. Reduced environmental impact attributes can be found on the back of cards and are designated with a green edge in our binders.
Environmental regard is given to all aspects of our product beginning with material origins and ending with possible post-life impacts. As the benefits of sustainable products become more apparent, so do the prospects. What were once considered obstacles are now opportunities — ones we are excited to explore. Equally important to the products we develop are the actions we take. To this end, we have two LEED Accredited Professionals on staff to help guide our decisions. Mayer Fabrics continues to transform its product development and business practices to reflect positive environmental choices every day. We welcome and embrace suggestions to facilitate this progress because we know it’s as important to you as it is to us.

MBDC cradle to cradle
Cradle to Cradle CertifiedCM is a multi-attribute ecolabel administered by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation InstituteTM that assesses products for safety to human and environmental health, design for recyclability or compostability, and responsible manufacturing processes. For more information about the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, visit http://www.C2Ccertified.org.
A certified product must meet requirements in five categories:
— MaterialHealth (impact on human & environmental health)
— Material Reutilization (recyclability or compostability)
— Renewable Energy Use
— Water Stewardship
— Social Responsibility
Levels of Certification:
Products can be certified at four levels (Basic, Silver, Gold or Platinum) to reflect a progression of achievements. At each level, the product must meet the criteria for that level in all five categories.
Polyurethanes are used as an alternative to PVC based faux leathers for several reasons:
PU’s will decompose over time, whereas PVC is environmentally indestructible and will eventually end up in land fills.
PU is incinerable, whereas vinyl and can release hydrochloric acid and other toxic compounds when burned.
PU’s typically contain a significantly lower level of VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) than PVC, resulting in improved indoor air quality.
Many manufacturers of contract quality Polyurethane are as attentive to environmental stewardship, as they are to improving the long term performance of their products. The following are benefits particular to PU’s from the maker of Encore by The Symphony Collection:
BPA (Bisphenol A) Free
Lead & Heavy Metal Free
